ICT & Democratizing Knowledge

Our theme exploring digital technologies democratizing knowledge is inspired by the digital divide of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) across the Northern Indian Ocean (NIO) region. Since this region is historically considered to be having one of the oldest and sustained material, intellectual and cultural exchanges, inspired by the recent improvement in internet and mobile coverage in the region, the Southern Collective is interested in understanding and using  this digital potential to facilitate measures for democratized  knowledge creation and dialogue.

As a first step, we undertook a short initiative to understand the nature of the digital divide across this region. We build a basic assessment tool that could be used by individuals and organizations to do so.
